Sanctuary & Richard Dean Anderson Cons

GABIT Events have been running conventions with Stargate’s Amanda Tapping for a number of years, their latest Amanda Tapping event AT4 which will take place in November sold out within a matter of minutes.  GABIT work closely with Amanda Tapping and proceeds of their events support charities.

GABIT have just released some super exciting news on two fronts.  They have teamed up with LEGENDS Memorabilia for the first Sanctuary event “The Sanctuary Experience” to be held in Vancouver from the 30th of July to the 1st of August next year.  The event will include appearances by the cast and crew of Sanctuary and will beneft Amanda Tapping’s newly formed charity “Sanctuary for Kids” which raises funds for other charity organisations that often get overlooked.

Even more exciting is the news that they will hold the first ever Richard Dean Anderson event. “Meet the Man (MTM)” will run along the lines of their AT events in the UK and will be held on the 5th of August.  Tickets will be limited to around 350 including 80 “Charmed” passes that will include extras like entry to the cocktail party.

San Diego Comic Con

Each year the San Diego Comic Con seems to get more and more enormous and tickets seem to sell out faster every year.   If you were planning to go to Comic Con this year and haven’t got your tickets,  you’re probably out of luck.  Tickets sold out weeks ago and this year comic con aren’t allowing transfer or resale of tickets.

Events of interest to fans of Stargate and Firefly include:

• “Stargate Universe” Panel
• Amanda Tapping’s “Sanctuary” Panel
• Joss Whedon’s “Dollhouse” Panel including viewing of unaired Episode 13 and exclusive season 1 DVD release
• “V: The Series” which stars Firefly’s Morena Baccarin & Alan Tudyk including viewing of the pilot episode.
• Adam Baldwin’s series “Chuck“
• Shawna Trpcic [Firefly, Dollhouse, Cabin in the Woods] will participate in a costuming panel

There will also be a lot of other sci fi and TV related things going on over the event and many special guests including Doctor Who’s David Tennant and Lord of the Rings’ Peter Jackson among others.

GateCon 2010

GateCon celebrates their 10th anniversary in July 2010.  GateCon is a fan run convention that focus specifically on Stargate.  They have had many guests over the years including Richard Dean Anderson.  2010 guests are yet to be announced.  Tickets go on sale next week.  If last year’s event is any indication you’ll need to get in quick because tickets sell fast.
