The official Stargate convention was held by Creation Entertainment in Vancouver from the 2nd to the 5th of April The guest list this year included Amanda Tapping, Michael Shanks, Paul McGillion, Joe Flanigan, Teryl Rothery, Andee Frizzell, Connor Trinneer, Robert Picardo, Dan Shea, Gary Jones, David Nykl and producers Mr N John Smith, Brad Wright and Robert Cooper there were also other guests panelists and lots of opportunities for fans to get autographs and professional photos with the guests.
With this event report podcast, we’re giving away a limited-edition F-302 screen-accurate replica created directly from the Stargate SG-1 CGI files and produced by Quantum Mechanix.
The highly-detailed, hand-painted ship model has a wingspan of 8 inches and measures 4.5 inches from nose to engine exhaust (roughly 1/129th scale). The F-302 comes with a 9″x6″ diorama modeled after the flight deck on Earth’s first deep-space battleship, the Prometheus. When mounted on it’s stand (the fighter can be removed), the F-302 is displayed on the verge of take off with gears down (but just starting to retract) and hovering over the flight deck. Complete with standard armaments, the F-302 comes with four wing-mounted missiles and two nose-mounted rail guns. The two-man cockpit is visible through the clear canopy and all regulation markings are in place, including warning placards measuring as little as 2/16 of an inch.

Hey Beth,
GREAT podcast! I sure enjoyed Robert Picardo’s part in the interview … he has always been a favorite of mine, despite his negative role on Stargate. I so appreciated being able to hear the interviews ‘in length’ and not have them ’sound-bited’ to death. I can’t wait for the next episode!

Great interviews. Some nice little bits of information I wasn’t aware of.

What a fantastic podcast, containing top quality interviews with Teryl Rothery, Robert Picardo, Dan Shea and the wonderful Amanda Tapping!
Funny, although not surprising, to think that Robert Picardo wasn’t a huge Sci-Fi fan (or Star Trek fan specifically) before he gained the role of the hologram doctor on Star Trek: Voyager. I always find it a little amusing when I hear similar stories of actors/actress’ that gain a role on a Sci-Fi show, and how they grow to really appreciate all that science fiction (as a genre) offers to them as performers; the lack of boundaries in such a genre (in terms of storyline, setting, themes), and the fan network etc. Science fiction, in that respect, is limitless in where you can take it. I think that is what I love most about the genre!
I started watching Stargate when I was 8 and haven’t turned away from science fiction since! I still recall many bus trips shared with friends ‘to’ and ‘from’ school, discussing the latest episodes and what characters we ’shipped’ – as Amanda Tapping explained in her interview, the “social networking aspect” of the Science Fiction genre is fantastic. Hopefully I can make it to a convention in Vancouver someday and experience it on an international scale. Until then, I’ll keep my fingers crossed that Amanda can make it to Armageddon 2009 in Melbourne!
Thanks for all the effort Fannish Inquisition!!

Wow Beth. That was fantastic. I loved hearing the comments from the fans as well as the interviews with the guests.
I adored listening to Amanda! But most of all, I loved what all the guests had to say and I thought the whole layout of the podcast was brilliant.
Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

Hi Beth!
I just loved the podcast!
This was the very first time I have ever listened to one and it was awesome!
I learn a lot about everyone interview, including the GateWorlders/Con Attendees.
Thanks!

What a wonderful interview! I love to hear from all the folks who managed to make it to the convention and how much they enjoyed it all. The economy prevent me, a retired person, from attending this year and I missed it and all my fan friends.
Thanks so much for the podcast which I have now on my “pod” so I can listen again in case I missed anything the first time.
Your website is great!

Fantastic podcast Beth!
I think you managed to get some of the questions answered that we would have loved to ask in the Q&As.
The social aspect and connecting with people that I may not have met otherwise was what made this con great for me – and really liked the question about what advice you’d give to first convention goers.

I really enjoyed your podcast — especially the interviews with Robert Picardo and Amanda Tapping. I agree with Amanda about how “social networking aspect” is so cool. I never would have thought that I would have friends all over the world as a result of sharing “like-minded thoughts” over a TV show. And not just casual acquaintances, but life-long friendships. Oh, and Robert Picardo is spot on about those frou-frou drinks too! =P

Awesome. I loved all the interviews especially the ones with Robert Picardo and Amanda Tapping. Its nice to know that Ms. Tapping seems to understand and appreciate her fans. She is a truely nice person and it comes across in your interview with her.
I also liked that you didn’t ask the same questions that I frequently hear or read in interviews. Yours were fresh and original. The insights by the attendees were great as well.

TERRIFIC podcast! Loved the interviews — such good, insightful questions from Beth! I love Amanda and Teryl, so their interviews were a particular delight. Well done!

I’ve never listened to one of your podcasts before and was very impressed with the professional editing together of the various tracks you’d recorded over the weekend. The questions were lovely and well thought out, though it would have been nice to hear a different end question instead of the same one for each of the actors.
And you didn’t ask Amanda about the Sam and Jack situation! My little shippy heart was disappointed!
