I bought a gold pass for this event & went on my own, it was my first weekend Convention & this pass enabled me to sit in the front 4 rows for talks & anything going on in the main room, it also meant I was first in the queue for autographs & photoshoots & all my photoshoots & autographs with the guests were included.

Also I was able to go to a cocktail party for an hour before the main party started on the Friday night & the guests mingled, talking to various groups (with free wine!) which was lovely.

All the guests had flown in Friday. Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson) looked exhausted & we learnt he had flown in for our Convention on Friday, as had the others too & Michael was flying out early on Sunday as he was filming a project on Monday so making the effort for us made it more appreciated. Chris Judge (Teal’c), Gary Jones (Walter Harriman) & Carmen Argenziano (Jacob/Selmak) were also there & they are all absolutely lovely people!

Saturday was the autograph & photoshoot day mainly, which as you can imagine took up most of the day. There were talks with the guests too, which were extremely entertaining.

The auction in the afternoon was fantastic – they were auctioning off various props from the show & film – part of a symbiote, a couple of crystals, items from the film, an original flight jacket that was made for the show but was never used, a couple of signed photos but the main auction for me…..a meal for 2 with the guests that evening!!

I was only going to go up to £1,000 but I was bidding against another lady after starting it off at £100 & another lady 2 seats away from me was bidding too & she was on her own. I asked her if she fancied splitting it with me & she agreed. I told her I would not go over £2,500 but she kept going so I assumed she wanted to go on her own & applauded her after the whole room went silent except for gasps of amazement every time the bidding went higher. If you’d dropped a pin, I think the whole place would’ve exploded! When she won, she still said I could pay the £2,500 & she would pay the rest!!!! You could’ve peeled me off the floor!

I wasn’t a complete bag of nerves but at least I ate the food (we went to a nice Chinese restaurant locally), the other lady was too nervous & just picked at it. Carmen was a complete gentleman, Michael did talk to us but was very tired, understandably, Chris was the same although they did have their moments & had us laughing. Gary was further round so we didn’t really talk to him much unfortunately, there were about 11 of us in the party so it was difficult to talk to everyone. Michael went back to the hotel to learn lines, pack & get some sleep but the other guests came to the party at our hotel in the evening for a little while, which was a 1969 theme.

Sunday consisted of some more signings (that you would have to pay for if you wanted extra things signed) & more talks – Michael & Chris Judge are a pair to behold, I thought my ribs were going to crack from laughing. Gary & Carmen are fantastic too, Gary did some stand-up & they talked about auditioning for parts & how they got parts they didn’t expect to get & parts they did.

The final thing was where the 3 guests pretended to be writer, director & producer at a set & volunteers had to get up & act out a scene as an audition, which was also extremely entertaining. Everything finished around 5pm & I took my leave, having made some great friends, got some great photos & with some great memories!

The next one is in February so I hope to be going to that one as well.
