What is Fannish Inquisition About?

Fannish Inquisition follows conventions and events around the world and in particular those relating to the Stargate and Firelfy/Serenity franchises.  We list all events that have guests from Firefly or Stargate and soemtimes events with a secondary link to these shows.

Each month we present a podcast of what’s coming up which features information on upcoming events, news items and interview with convention organisers and from time to time special guests.

Some of the guests we’ve had in past shows include Amanda Tapping, Robert Picardo, Teryl Rothery, Paul McGillion, David Nykl, Kavin Smith, Gary Jones , Dan Shea and Andee Frizzell from Stargate,  Seamus Dever from Nathan Fillion’s TV Series Castle and Shawna Trpcic the costume designer from Firefly and Dollhouse.

As opportunity allows, we publish special event podcasts where we talk to guests and convention attendees.

Note to event organisers: If you’re organizing an event we don’t yet have in our events calendar please don’t hesitate to let us know all the details. We also plan on adding information on this site giving background on major event organizers so feel free to touch base with us.

Why are all the photos so small?

They’re called thumbnails and they make the pages load much faster. Most of them are linked to larger versions of the image and all you need to do is click on them to see the larger image.

Can I use your photos?

Copyright to photos imprinted with the Fannish Inquisition logo belongs to us, you may use these photos on your non-profit website (we prefer you ask us first) but you cannot edit them (ie, remove the logo) and we ask that you provide a link back to FannishInquisition.com. Other photos on the site belong to our contributors and you must contact us before using any of these images so that we can ask permission of the copyright holders.

Can I copy your text?

We don’t mind you using excerpts from our convention reports, interviews or news items so long as you clearly provide a link back to the full article on FannishInquisition.com. Do not repost entire reports, articles, interviews etc. Please let us know when you use content from our site.

Fannish Inquisition Website Migration Complete

When I first established this website a few months ago I used a content management system called Joomla. Turns out it really stinks. It was very messy and had lots of bugs and security holes so I gave up on it and went to my much preferred option, WordPress. It’s taken a lot of work to re-establish the site but I think I’m finally done with the basics (there’s still some serious work to be done on the general design and some Internet Explorer issues that need to be dealt with) and the old site is about to disappear never to be seen again.

The events calendar operational and you can click on the Conventions & Events menu link to view the events coming up this month as well as options to view events for Firefly, Stargate, or All events for the next 12 months. The events are sorted into categories, brown for Firefly and blue for Stargate. I’m waiting on the release of a new version of the software that will feature an event search but for now you’ll have to just check things out by the “view all events” option on the Conventions & Events page.

I’m going to try and migrate the forum software to something that integrates with the rest of the website but I don’t want to use the existing posts – there’s a number of issues relating to the canceled FedCon USA event that may benefit people in the future – so there’s a hold on that until someone can write a conversion process for me.

I’m totally open to ideas of additional stuff to add to the site, right now I’m thinking of having info about cast members a kind of “where are they now” thing but it’ll be a lot of work so I will have to see how things go first, and if I get any requests or encouragement on the issue.

I’m also looking for independent convention reporters – people who attend events that can give a rundown of how things went and perhaps provide a photo or two. I’ll report on any events I can get to myself and hope to include interviews and other cool stuff as opportunities become available.
